During its annual film festival, Amnesty International held a 25-image exhibit from MiMundo.org’s documentation of the violent evictions carried out by a Canadian-owned mining company in El Estor, Izabal, and Panzós, Alta Verapaz, Guatemala. The festival was held in the Vancity Theatre of Vancouver and the exhibit, held in the lobby, remained open to the public during the event.

A workshop and lecture focusing on independent media and the negative effects of open-pit metal mining was given on Sunday the 11th.
